The Dalles Irrigation District Energy Efficiency

The Dalles Irrigation District wishes to make improvements to it closed pipe delivery system and introduce Scientific Irrigation Scheduling to its 200 irrigators.   The system was built in 1964 and requires update in equipment. The District wishes to upgrade its system to make it more water and energy efficient.

The Districts desired outcome is to conserve 50 acre feet of water and improve energy efficiency of its pumping system.

The District has committed to improving water conservation and energy efficiency. They plan to replace flow meters at the farm gate and at strategic points in the system using telemetry. Improve pump and motor energy efficiency. Evaluate in-pipe small hydro energy generation. Overcome water hammer problems in system. Introduce Scientific Irrigation Scheduling to irrigators.

Wy’East can assist in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive district wide water and energy plan. Provide technical assistance to identify and write funding proposals. This will de done in concert with the Wasco SWCD.
