Advanced Precision Irrigation 2.0
Bring technology to the hands of today’s irrigators and let them see their irrigation system’s status with ease. This project is the first step toward an advanced precision irrigation system that can be used by small and medium-size Agricultural Producers at any location.
Advanced Precision Irrigation 2.0 (API 2.0) is an innovative approach to maximizing the utilization of water and energy on-farm by using the latest technology(s). These tools will provide visual information that allows the Farmer to improve the management of their irrigation system(s). This takes irrigation water management to the next level. We intend to maximize the efficiency of each site(s) irrigation system.
What does Advanced Precision Irrigation 2.0 include…An on-farm network including numerous sensors and wireless telemetry will be installed onto the current irrigation system(s) to monitor its operation and then optimize the utilization of that system. Visual data provided to the system operator allows them to make adjustments and improve their management practices; resulting in water & energy savings plus potential crop quality and quantity improvements. The internet of things (IoT) on-farm. API 2.0 can be used on most any irrigation system, at any location.

Common Challenges Advanced Precision Irrigation 2.0 can help with:
* Poor Application Efficiency – Have you ever driven down the road and noted an irrigation system running in strong wind with very little water hitting the ground, most of the water is caught in the wind. We will help determine the actual water that gets into the soil and helps the crop.
* Application Efficiency Forecasting – Is the wind going to be strong over the next few afternoons with hot temperatures? How much water is actually benefiting the crop in these conditions? Should I change my pivot’s speed or adjust set times? Would it be better to not run the irrigation in the next few afternoons? Our tools will help you answer these questions. We want to always irrigate at the most efficient times, and not irrigate during periods of extreme low application efficiency due to weather.
* Pump Operating at Poor Efficiency – It’s important to operate your irrigation pump at the most efficient location on the pump curve for maximum efficiency.
Do you know where this is on your pump? Our tool will be similar to a modern vehicle's miles per gallon calculation. We will model your pump curve to know if you are operating at the most efficient point.
* Pumping Cost – Do you know how much it cost you to operate your pump per hour? Our tool will show you just that, we will calculate the energy that is being consumed and show you just what the cost per hour of operation is in a visual mobile tool.
