Low elevation spray application (LESA)
Low Elevation Spray Application (LESA) and Low Energy Precision Application (LEPA) need much less pressure to operate properly and use 6-10 psi pressure regulators. The drops are spaced 5 ft or less apart, and the irrigation application efficiency is typically about 97% as measured by catch can tests without crop canopy. Because of the small wetted radius, ponding and runoff can be an issue on certain soils, slopes, and soil surface conditions. We are seeing roughly a 20% water application efficiency improvement with LESA conversions throughout the Pacific Northwest.
