Our CREP Project

Wy’East Resource Conservation and Development and Wasco County Soil and Water Conservation District were awarded a CREP Grant through the Oregon Department of Energy’s Community Renewable Energy Grant Program (CREP). These funds have been used to purchase four BEAM EV ARC units, with the goal of providing emergency backup power for community gathering spaces, with these units being deployed across rural Wasco County. These units can also provide top-off electric vehicle (EV) charging. The primary purpose of this project is to strengthen energy resilience and provide backup power during power outages for rural areas of the county, while also attracting additional customers to rural small businesses. BEAM units are able to provide backup power in the event of an emergency or public safety power shutoff (PSPS) for fuel pumps, refrigeration, and additional vital equipment. This project began in early 2025 and is still in progress.
